I Woke Up Dead

I woke up dead, one morning, late in the evening
All I could hear was someone silently screaming
Then I made eye contact with a man without eyes
That's when I fell from the floor, and into the skies

I woke up dead, late one night, early in the day
To a mute woman who told me she had something to say
She said to look outside and to not listen, but to obey
When I looked out the window, everything was so colorfully grey

I woke up dead, at the beginning of the end
A blind man told me I looked like his best friend
He said I have a face he could never remember and never forget
He told me we were lifelong buddies even though we just met

I woke up dead when I was born, feeling more alive
Even though I had never died, I felt revived
A dead person told me we always hold grudges even after we forgive
The dead person told me, how can you die if you never really lived?

This Poems Story

I turned to poetry because I wanted to do something in my life that affected other people. I've read many great poems that really got to me and inspired me. Some even made me look at life from a different perspective that I never thought of before. I hope that my poems will touch the hearts and minds of people who read them. All I want to do is contribute a verse to the world.
