Icarus

Icarus

Sometimes, you hurt to look at
At first I could not understand
Why the warm glow of your skin
Made me see stars
Or the gold of your eyes
Made me want to get closer
And stare into their depth forever
Despite the sting it made me feel
And it was not until I saw your smile
And heard your laugh, melodious and so bright
That I finally understood
Why it is so dangerous to look at the sun
Even with the distance between us
Your warmth surrounds me
So much that it pains me
But I would melt a thousand times over
Just to bask in your shine, a little longer
