We wondered in the night at how, like a fairy tale,

this great rock hangs in the sky without nail or peg.

One beloved night I looked out the car window and saw

a silver coin pressed into the deep dark,

its sharp round figure suspended, cutting the sky like a razor.

This image presses into the palm of my memory

and leaves a mark like a brand.
