Icy Breath

I am graceful
I am beautiful
I am slow to come
I am lonely
I chase my friend Summer;
she is fast like lightning in midday's storms.
I never seem to catch up;
like a wave that never seems to meet the shore.
I waste the days away blowing my icy breath on unexpected visitors.
Because, you see, I am lonely like the first star in the night sky.
My heart is as stiff and cold as a rock:
falling into a river of doubt.
I am Winter.
