Idle Moments

How I cherish those idle moments spent
Watching the elevator floor number rise
Those fleeting moments
When my eyes are shut but
My mind is in the midst
Of signing a contract with sleep
And I briefly forget all that occurred
In the hours before
When I am waiting at a lone intersection for
A green light signaling
My return to the endless commotion of human life
