If I Could Paint Your Eyes

If I could paint your eyes,
I would start with pale green.
A delicate amount would be spread—
spun in circular motions.

And on top I would swirl the ocean,
waves crashing into the green
capturing a mesmerizing deep sea.

In small strokes,
I'd layer hints of gold
just on the top of each wave where the sunlight hits.

And to finish,
I would dip just the tip of my brush in white paint,
bend back the bristles,
and let go…

Speckling the sea with foam.
