If I Lived Every Day Like Yesterday

If I lived every day like yesterday
In the morning, I would know life's a gift.
Maybe then I wouldn't hit the snooze so often
And start my day with a lift.

If I lived every day like yesterday
I'd give time to God in prayer.
My worries and anxieties
Would surely be laid bare.

If I lived every day like yesterday
I would remind people if they had forgotten to laugh,
And then their day would be all the brighter
If only for a moment and a half.

If I lived every day like yesterday
Criticism would come my way.
I'd humbly say, "I've got a lot to learn,
I hope I grow each day."

If I lived every day like yesterday
I would leave work feeling content.
"My job is no less than incomplete,
But, hey, at least I made a dent."

And if every day came to a close
With full awareness of how I'd been blessed,
I would swiftly, yet softly, drift off to dream
In a peaceful, and well-deserved rest.
