If I Should Stay?

I found myself staring deeply in his eyes.
All he could do was watch my cries.
My heart was beating steadily again.
He grabbed my chin, I looked away.
I found myself wondering, "If I should stay."

I wanted to run and hide my tears.
I did as I thought, reacting to my fears.
He ran after me and caught my wrist.
He spun me around, I balled my fist.
"Let me go", were my first words.
I found myself wondering, "If I should stay."

His response was, "No."
He said, "I love you, please don't go."
I said, "I won't because you say so."
He hugged me tight and kissed my forehead.
I found myself wondering, "If I should stay."

We walked hand in hand, step by step.
I couldn't explain what I felt.
My eyes were distant, fingertips were cold.
Lips trembling from crying, arms folded against my chest.
I found myself wondering, "If I should stay."
