If I Were

If I were to fly away so high,
Upon a gentle breeze,
I would rest inside the thoughts,
That set my mind at ease.

If I were to find a raging storm,
With thunder all around,
I would close my eyes and sigh,
Just blocking out the sound.

If I were to see the sun again,
Shining down on me,
I would believe I was safe,
From terrors you can't see.

If I were to drop out of the sky,
My load too much to bear ,
I would fall into His arms,
And soften to His care.

If I were to rebel against His love,
And hide from Him in fear,
He would smile down and say,
"Come, my child, I'm here."
