If Only You Were the Moon

I would dig deep in the roots of willow tree,
burying all of my dreams
hoping they would stretch
past the clouds into the moon,
which holds all of my secrets.
I would pin point the distance from the stars
praying one shines brightest enough
for you to notice that the world
is just as big as the imprint of our thumb.
Every day I write a letter
beginning "Dear dad"
and ending with "miss you"
P.S I love you always.
If you were the moon
I would be gravity
pulling you back
into the kaleidoscope of my heart
Hoping that the sun will guide you home.
