If Only

If I had wings, I'd fly to you,
Up in the heavens above.
If I had the chance to do it all again,
I'd cradle you in the wings of love.

I wish it didn't hurt so much inside,
But it hurts like hell when you lose a child.
Things happen sometimes and we don't know why,
But death hurts more, when you can't say goodbye.

If only I could turn back the hands of time,
You'd be safe in my arms and by my side.
Oh Father in heaven, taken pity on me,
And heal my heart so that I can breathe.
