I’ll Wait Forever If Needed

The words rip out of my heart and fly to my brain.
They leak out of my mind, escaping to my lips.
I catch them, just a moment to spare, before I swallow them again.

The love you hold for me is intangible and transparent.

You see me as a flawed outsider.
I see you as my price.
I know you'll save me,
but I also know that you've broken my walls.
Please, build them up again and open the gates.

You are the screw that holds my life together.
You are also the one who threw it away.

Each word to someone else is a new bullet to my chest.
Zipping through me in a flash of heat and pain.

I love you,
and I'll wait for you.
Forever, if needed.
