I'll Watch You

Winding through, my life I give to you
Eerily gracious, I hope to make it, too
Canter, halt
Drowning in salt--
Water too high, wading through this lie
Inquiry after inquiry, masking the thoughts
I find myself wondering, is it my mind that rots?
For my love is strong, for you and for them
But I find only woe, when I see that I am not a ten
Winding through, free and true
I can't keep up, but I will sit and watch you
Watch you spring from dawn
Watch your first step to the plate
Hear you speak that first word
See you make your first house for the bird
Perched on top of my peak, with no way down
I watch you canter,
Why can't I be 'round?
I'm hiding in my safe place,
I want to be near
But I am chained here,
So please, in your heart, keep me dear
