I’m Black

I'm black like Moses who parted the Red Sea
I'm brown like Jesus who resembles me
I'm sharp like the thorns that prodded His brain,
But warm as the blood that flowed from His veins
The natives know my plight, the Jews understand
How easy the devil can take the heart of a man
One lash for ignorance,
Two lashes for fools
Who believed in the compensation "forty acres and a mule"
I'm yellow like the streak down Judas's back
I'm black like the president, how ironic is that?
