I’m Not Perfect

I’m not perfect
And I’ll never be
Because perfection is only valid in the eyes of the beholder
And a lot of people have different views

I’ll never be perfect because I have flaws
Flaws that sometimes I don’t see
Like talking too much
Or saying too little

I’ll never be perfect because I am different
And today you cannot be different
Or you’ll be known as the kid who has too much in their head
And hasn’t opened their eyes

I’ll never be perfect because my past didn't shape me to be
And don’t get me started on how other people have it worse than me
Someone who dies in 10ft of water is just as dead as someone who died in 20
And you dare to bring up the question of who is “deader”?
When it was never how bad our pasts are
It’s how we overcame them

I’m not perfect
And I’ll never choose to be.

To be perfect is a lie on it's own.
