In Between

There is one sound that the heart makes -
Beautiful and thin.
There is one reason why the heart aches -
Terrible and grim.

Two flowers dance above blackening air,
Smog as tight as a zipper.
Submerge all bodies in bottomless fountains -
Dangerous, toxic.

Above the sky lies Heaven’s home,
Crowded with jeweled faces and ruby toes.
Light blinds darkness, white defeats black,
One look and you’ll never want life back.

There is one sound that the heart makes -
Beautiful and thin.
There is one reason why the heart aches -
Terrible and grim.
