In Loving Memory Of A Shared Mom

Outsider wishes were counted quietly around a birthday cake
as air whirled its rule of thirds
In one cross-fingered expulsion,
like the universe delivered pre-maturely,
the breather on the inside hoped for the best of all
One, two, three
and all the while each daydreamed themselves the life of the party
When a smoke detector put the clapping to their ears
the batteries were spayed as seeds of the moment;
a young story amidst the elder practice yawn
They laughed and laughed,
expanding the horizon of analogies not included;
They were away for a while
Their wishes were granted
