In Memories

In Memories
Remember the times,
Our lips touched the floor
Our heads hit the cement.
We were so youthful back then.

I couldn’t find it in me to tell you
How I felt about you.
Hormones, good and bad,
Rushed through my body like blood

Did you like how I looked?
Did you like how I talked?
Did I like how you looked?
Did I like how you talked?

Been three years since then,
But time flies like fairies,
And just like myths,
I held you high on a pedestal.

We are much older now;
The past seems a mile away.
We are much wiser now;
The time seems to fly by.

Do you like how I smile?
Do you like how I touch?
Do I like how you feel?
Do I like how you act?

In memories I held you,
Higher than the moon.
In memories I cleansed you,
Cleaner than a virgin.

You are not like that
And I should’ve known.
Only fools hold you high;
Only fools objectify.

Back then I was the fool;
Asking for too much,
And saying too little.
I accept you as you are
Not in memories…
