In My Failure

Who do you take me for without failing to exalt my Creator
What amplifies my skin over His Blood
What places my voice over His Own
My singularity cannot equate to His Stripes
Pierced ears neglect to acknowledge pierced hands
Natural beauty yields to the natural desire
His Desire to bridge the gap that I created as I chose
Flesh over faith
Lust over love
Greatness over His Glory
In an ocean full of grace I challenged Him to afloat
As I attempted to swim against God, I failed miserably
I failed miserably
I failed to exalt my Creator
I amplified my skin over His Blood
I placed my voice over His Own
In my drowning, my ego shrunk more than my hair
In my shame, my heart yearned for His presence
In my failure, God rescued me
