In Search of God

Obligatory prayers
Flock of believers
Alone, in pairs, groups
Desert the mosques
No nearer to sanctity
Which they so eagerly seek
No closer to God
For whom they readily search

Sunday congregations
Tenacious devotion
White angels
Sober-faced
Desert the churches
No closer to essence
Of their tedious efforts
No nearer to the Lord
For whom they ceaselessly look.

This Poems Story
