In the Cards

It's not in the cards to hold you,
Or keep you warm at night.
It' not in the cards to be with you,
but oh, it feels so right.
It's not in the cards to take your hand,
and hold it oh so tight.
It's not in the cards to kiss your lips,
But oh, it feels so right.
The cards are dealt at random,
And fall in many ways.
We never know the hand we'll get,
it changes day to day,
Some days we are the dealer,
Some days we only play,
Some days we find the cards we have,
we'd like to throw away.
But this is the only hand we get,
The only one to play,
So, play the hand the best you can.
And hope you'll play it right.
It's not in the cards to love you,
But oh, it feels so right!
