In The Lap of a Valley Curve

In The Lap of a Valley Curve

I watched the rising sun

early morning birds chatter

sporadic squabbles

over blossoms dripping with nectar…

… relative silence

noise muted in the dawning hour

traffic on the distant highway

testimony to societies routine

muffled by hills and houses

Sun rise over my horizon

nestled in the lap of a valley curve

low hills a thousand shades of green

dark patches in hollows where shadows

still linger…

A peacefulness rises from within

sighs join the gentle wind

as warmth spills over the hill’s curved rim

and sunlight tumbles down the sloping decline...

… there is no measuring time, nor

the value of moments spent alone

watching the rising sun

bathe low hills in a thousand shades of green.
