In Waiting

I waited
but a year too long
and in that year
you were gone delay...
never was I
to see your face
to hear your voice
feel your warm embrace delay...
now I find
I've done it again
not set out
a new path to begin delay...
these pieces lie
like a puzzle
my questions
lie like a riddle delay...
life it teaches
and teaches well
to grasp each moment
to come out of our shells
bravely delay...
I've paid a price
and now, paid twice
I am never to
see his face
to hear his voice
to feel his embrace delay...
lifes too cruel
it sometimes seems
these happenings
twists and turns
come much too quickly
and such a price
I have paid
and all because
...I delayed...
