Inhibitions (a Villanelle)

Girls want to be free for love to declare
holding back, fearing what others will think
to run naked, wind blowing in their hair.

Wanting true love to free their souls to share
working, praying for good lives on the brink
girls want to be free for love to declare.

Passions growing for life, finding despair
taking its toll on their hearts, out of sync
to run naked, wind blowing in their hair.

Fending off men who are full of hot air
looking for a man who will make them blink
girls want to be free for love to declare.

Dreaming of love on a wing and a prayer
floundering in a world that needs a shrink
to run naked, wind blowing in their hair.

To lose inhibitions, find love quite rare
waiting for a time to feel in the pink
girls want to be free for love to declare
to run naked, wind blowing in their hair.
