Insidious Longing

My nights are plagued with
Wondrous, exquisite dreams
Of you.
We dance
To a chorus of grasshoppers
And their violin legs.
Our feet lift off the ground and we soar together
In twirls
The moonlight washes over us
And makes us whole.
Our hands entwine with the promise of eternity.
You make me smile.
My laughter trickles out of my mouth
And floats and wobbles
In shiny pink champagne bubbles.
Today I am so amazingly happy.
With you,
I twirl.
We waltz and tango,
Your gentle hand grazing my waist.
You make me dizzily drunk.
You spin me again.
When I reach for your hand
I wake to another empty motel bed.
My nights are plagued with
Wondrous, exquisite dreams
Of you.
