Instinctual Nature

A feeling deep down rises to provide a twinkle of awareness
But the delusional ego dismisses it
Rummaging over a gut feeling

The front-end lobe wants to believe in fairy tales
While the unconscious is a messenger from the realistic realm
Tapping on the door of your mind
Asking you to awaken and smell the foulness

A mere drop-in time exists to root out the truth
To maneuver and go with your instinctual nature
But all too often the towpath of least contention is taken
Providing the benefit of dubiety to family, friends, and foes

Can there be a changing of the tides?
Or will I continue to live a warped existence?
My basic instinct tells me differently
