Intergalactic

Tonight I sleep on this cold bed of nails and I wonder if you'll ever come back.
I know you're out there somewhere burning down your own path.
For now, I just keep praying that you'll return from the clouds one day.
I know it's really easy to get caught up and swept away.
I hope you're having the time of your life amid all the stars and the satellites.
I think of you when I laugh or when I cry.
I miss your amber light.
The last time I saw you looking down on me from your star, I felt so out of place.
You've never been so far.
All I wanted was gravity,
but further and further, you fell out of reach.
There are times I wonder if I ever cross your mind.
You know, you will always have a home here.
I'm not hard to find.
Every once in while, I catch a glimpse of your laser beams.
I even found you once through my red telescope and nightly through my interstellar dreams.
My feet may be planted firmly on the ground but my head is resting gently on the marshmallow clouds.
I'll wait for you forever.
I'll be here when you come back down.
