Intermezzo (Images)

frizzy haired freshman, ready to take on the world
writes sonnets to girls who’ll never read them
writes music that’ll never be heard

tightlipped clarinetist, caricature of a toothpick
his life run by his mom

scrawny boy, quiet boy
a galaxy inside his brain
unable to talk
for fear has shut his mouth

insomniac, can’t sleep so he writes
autobiographical drivel
child of a man
reeks of cologne
thinks the world of a mirror

friend of a friend, barely named
a whole life I’ll never know
shame

tall girl
brilliant girl
never to meet her again
I miss her
