Into the Darkness

Into the Darkness

4:33 AM

Darkness, a tightness, waves of panic
Does she still love me? Have I been too much?
Could there be somebody else?
Somebody better?

The walls close in on me

My chest, like a sponge, absorbing the darkness

Why can’t I sleep? Why aren’t I confident?

Give me a whisper, give me a sign

Is this my life by design?

Why must my mind wander from slumber?

Why must I enter the darkness?
Like the depth of the sea, so far below I can no longer breathe
Lungs filling, air depleting

As my mind sinks deeper and deeper

Into the darkness
