Invisible Illness

She looks fine,
but don't let ignorance fool you.
Our eyes are useless
if our mind is blind.

There are bags under her eyes.
She doesn't sleep.
The pain keeps her awake
and she's drowned in her thoughts.

She walks down the street
trying to remember
how beautiful life is
before this overcame her.

Months gone by
she learned to smile again,
but don't let ignorance fool you.
More often than not, her scars are hidden behind her eyes.
