IS A CAGE FOR A BIRD?

Should a creeper twine,
Around a tree,
And not roam on a plain,
And be free?

Should a river march
Into the sea’s mouth,
And not be directed to enrich
The barren earth?

Is a cage for a bird, and
Bird not for a bough blossomed?
Is ‘a woman for a man,
And a man not for a woman’?

Should insects be trapped in
Spider’s webs?
Should women be hemmed in
Men’s codes?
