Is poetry empathy?

Poetry is something that touches everyone's heart,
it relaxes, motivates, reminds of those who are apart.
Empathy is putting yourself in someone else's shoes,
feeling it, is sailing in a tempest but on a cruise.
We all enjoy the cuckoo bird's lilting song
but do we feel its joy for long?
I remember the time when hundred's died
Innocent people had run and hide.
26/11 was a sudden disaster that could not be managed
Our hearts still cry for those who got caged.
An ordinary night when I was about to sleep
but thousands could do nothing but weep.
Didn't know why my granny shouted her heart out
the news we saw cleared our doubt.
Tears ran down my eyes,
I had to sleep, helplessly avoiding the cries.
Nothing can let the good bow
the evil intentions could not win now.
The days went by and today we are here
Without some brave-hearts but more peaceful and aware.
