It Was Written and Never Erased

It is written that a child is born
with eyes sanguine...
her story already written
but she wanted to be a penguin.

The authors were furious,
how obvious she was female;
against the laws of nature,
she was no seashell.

They attempted to alter her
and rewrite her rising action.
She stood tall and hoped
turning penguin would happen.

Soon, other characters thought,
questioning their own fiction.
She had gained a big, pink eraser-
She could perform the transcription!

Alas! The authors would not stand:
they killed her off, obsolete,
only daring to ask later,
"Why is no one unique?"
