It’s a fair and equal world except

It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except men have control over women’s bodies.
It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except a clump of cells is valued over a little girls safety.

It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except the doctor is punished harder than the criminal.
It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except we aren’t fair and equal at all.

Twenty five men deciding what happens to a woman.
A mother telling her broken child she can’t remove the painful reminder inside her
It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except we aren’t fair and equal at all.

It’s not a matter of life or death.
It’s a matter of equal rights or none.
It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except we aren’t fair and equal at all.

They say that there are exceptions for this or that.
Who are they to decide what is and isn’t acceptable?
It’s a fair and equal world and society,
Except we aren’t fair and equal at all.
