It’s Only Been A Year

It's been a year since we had our last laugh,

The days rolled by, the past was past.

I still remember the last grin given.

It's been a year.

It's been a year of tears and sorrow,

Mom never knew what was tomorrow.

I still remember her crying every night.

It's been a year.

It's been a year since I graduated.

Everyone was so elated to see me walk.

I still remember that night you smiled ear to ear.

It's been a year.

It's been a year since we saw your face.

Everyday we have had to embrace the hardships,

Of being alone, and separated.

It's been a year.

It's been a year since I have gone off to college,

Which dawns on me, you never saw me leave.

Mom still cries every day, would you believe?

It's been a year.

It's been a year since we have all departed.

Someday that will all be history, we will all be together.

When the trumpet sounds and all is changed.

It's only been a year.
