It’s You

Guarded in my unkept bed,
Deceived by false protection.
Safe within these tangled sheets,
Away from its detection.

An unwelcome guest you are,
Along with daylight on my face.
Exposed to the world around me,
So unsettled in this place.

A new day comes,
Feet hit the floor,
Put on a brave face,
Walk out the door.

Daily affirmations,
Broken pieces held with glue.
Always trying to hide from it,
Anxiety, it is you.
