I’ve Done It Three Times

I've Done It Three Times

I've done it three times
They started as private moments
Just us two, wrapped in each other
Caresses, sighing, whispering love
These private moments, ending in public
Not just us two now, strangers are with us
No caressing or sighs or whispers
The soft bed replaced by a cold table
Kisses in the dark, replaced by bright lights
No whispers now, voices give commands
"Push" "wait" "push" "breathe"
A wail makes all the strangers fade
The answer to our love has come
This soft, wet, wailing bundle; our joy
Now it is us three, wrapped in each other
Caresses, sighing, whispering love
Unaware of the others
I've done it three times.
