Jailhouse Christmas

Christmas is coming, it's almost here
But we're not rushing around shopping & there's not too much cheer
It's hard to feel Christmas from inside this cold cell
No sight of Santa, no Christmas bells
We will spend Christmas without family
Yes its bad, but its not the worst it could be
We still have our lives & loved ones that care
It's just such a bitch that we cant be there
Yeah, it will be different, that's for sure
But if we all pull together I know we'll endure
Here in jail we all have a different way

To celebrate our Christmas day
Most will call home, some will play cards
We know we will make it but we know it'll be hard
But we gotta keep our faith we've got to believe
That God hasn't forgotten us on this Christmas Eve
We have to trust Him for whatever reason
& we'll all make it through this Christmas season

I wrote this several years ago...in the 1st leg of my journey...learned so much since then it seems like a lifetime ago. I met some awesome people there, as well as what you would expect. But even so...I am grateful for that time as it gave me a very real but different perspective about ALOT of things...
Don't forget if you have someone close to you that cant be with you on Christmas because of..."circumstances"
