Je Suis La Lune (I Am the Moon)

I'm not sorry.
What should I be sorry for?
The moon doesn't apologize for causing
the rise and fall of the tides.
Why should I?

You say that I'm conceited.
Just because you don't water your own flowers,
doesn't mean you get to stomp on mine.
My garden is healthy and strong.
I won't let you crush what it took me years to grow.
Instead of hurting mine, tend to your own.
Maybe your garden can grow too.

You say that I'm a dreamer,
That my head is too far in the clouds to watch where I'm walking.
You say one day I'll trip, because I'm too busy looking to the sky.
While you have your head down to the ground,
my eyes feast upon galaxies and thousands of stars.
You won't know the possibilities of what could be if you don't look.

I dream of becoming one of those thousands of stars.
Do you dream of being another crack in the side walk?

Ask me if I'm sorry. I will say 'no' every time.
I'll never be sorry for who I am.
I am a growing garden.
I am a shining star.
I am the moon.
I cause the tides to rise and fall, without regret or remorse.
