Jealousy

Go ahead
Try
Try to steal the scintillating wonders that light the earth
Pluck the tiny glittering gems from the velvety darkness
Like plump ripe berries
And drop them into your tin pail
Plip
Plip
But it doesn't matter how gently you hold them
Your cold hands
Will crack them
Your chilled breath
Will shatter them
Your frozen heart
Will rust them
Like a bitter gust of wind
Kills a bright flame
You'll destroy them
They'll refuse to glow
For you
