Jesus I’m Not Ready

Jesus, please don't visit tonight
I want the silence of other unfolded souls, forgotten and unsaid
Wherever I have been and didn't notice;
Jesus, please don't linger tonight
I need the chiming silence at the midst of life
To dis-intagle myself;
Jesus, please don't ask me tonight
I'm not ready
In the bareness of what I have not done;
Jesus, please don't look at me tonight
The stars are hanging in menace of huddled peoples, hungry;
Antiquity is here
Fearful Joy
Children everywhere
They don't mind dying
They don't mind lying;
Jesus, don't sit on my bed tonight
I'm not ready
To change the world.
