Jitterbug

I'm practicing letting go
Thinking less and saying more
Holding hands and holding doors
Big things, small things, things ignored

I'm practicing keeping time
Steady rhythms and funky bass lines
All things true and all things kind
Steel strings, heart strings, things divine

I'm practicing breathing deep
Inhale, exhale, and repeat
Making love and making peace
But letting go is the hardest thing

So I'm practicing this brand new thing
It's a little twist with a little swing
It's holding you only if you hold the beat
Because this Jitterbug has taken hold of me
