July

The sea holds in a history
For throngs of smitten wringing shores
Draining cyphers through their pores
Christening the mystery

Lens trained on the periphery
Waters capture the season's roars
Witnessing the turbid wars
That fall like dominoes from gulf to cliff array

Etiquette bonds chivalry
Chafing at a lone pontoon's oars
As the fledgling flag soars
Above the reprise of revelry

The effect of exercise in July
Puts to bed the shame of indulging the summer's barfly
