July Rain

Feet patter the ground
and oceans drop, gravity taking over.
Through shrubs they glance
the city, getting heavier by the pound.

Noise over stereo, rhythm.
Kids still can't stay silent.
The pavement feels ice cold,
zebra patterns, move inbetween them.

waves caress the street
as our feet run among them
illuminated by the light, red.
cars waiting, slowly giving off heat.

Grass, lay within it,
the tiredness of nighttime rain.

lay among all the blades,
green in only one shade

soon a summers day.
