Jump the Damn Fence

Sip your black current tea, dear
Needle & thread - mending from that barbed fence.
Obsidian on the ceiling,
Stare upwards for hours, forgetting
Incoherent - but speaking some truth
I'll sit shotgun for this back road
Reckless, hopeless, fearless
Chase death so it can't find us
Rush with me headfirst, heart first, into the labyrinth

Jump the damn fence

That smile - sitting strapped in
Escaping mistake by a wink and a laugh
An inferno of desirous thrill
Burn the forests down, fire glinting off the waves
Smoke filling my summer lungs
Not afraid of rust in my body, but rust of the mind
A twinge from a country fence such a small price
for an infinite moment of flight

Jump the damn fence
