Jumper

I nearly fall
through that last door,
and suddenly I'm there
on the roof.
Alone.
Finally I can breathe,
closing my eyes
to the Las Angeles breeze,
and wishing for it
to
carry
me
away.
The door opens
but I don't turn,
I hear my doctor approach
but say nothing.
He calls to me
on the edge,
but I continue
to stare,
"Please, get back,"
I smile,
and look back.
"Do you honestly believe
I'd jump?"
