Just a Room In the Loft of the Barn.

By Spock

They bought the land to live on.
And now they live off the land.
They started small and now they’ve grown.
A place to raise their merry band.

We used to call them Amish
Before it became real.
We raised a barn with quite a crew
The girls they served the meal.

They started with the Highland Cows
Pigs and Chickens followed soon
Now they tap the trees and boil the sap
The Barn Dance is in June.

The kids they keep on coming
Number six is so darn cute.
The older five are up at dawn
The chores require boots.

Mother is the teacher,
homeschool is the plan.
Technology is helpful
They’re smarter than this man.

In the fall we fill the freezer
Again we’re living off the land.
We hunt the woods with grandpa,
All shooters in the clan.

Now that grandpas getting older
We know he loves to farm.
He only has one small request
A room in the loft of the barn.
