Just Another Name
The world grew dim as I slowly drifted away.
Floating on the clouds and shadows of yesterday.
An impetuous decision, but an easy one to make.
At once, I downed the pills so I'd never have to wake.
I hope that when I cross your mind, harshly, you do not judge me.
For everything was black,
Not even I could love me.
Damage had been done, irrevocably to my heart.
I was the targeted bullseye. And life was the hurling dart.
You may think of me as a coward. You may think of me as weak.
But you've never endured my struggle.
In my shoes, you've never placed your feet.
No, I'm not sorry and I have not one regret.
I'm just another name, one that you'll soon forget.
