Just Be

Trash everywhere, an orphaned child
A family full of broken smiles
Barefeet on dirt roads
Long hours playing dominoes
Where I come from, it's nothing like this
This country just feels like sadness
But there is hope in this straw house
No hurry to run or to get out
These people simply live, and just be
In this place that is so new to me
In America, we always have somewhere to go
But these people only go with the flow
A street of devastation
Next to a street of civilization
The life these people live,
Is so remotely differnt
Augros Negros, an island full of orphans
No one is here to help, this abandoned land
Large basbeball fields, with worn out tires
Wild pigs, wild children, and wild fires
I want to help each tattered home
I don't want to leave my new friends alone
I wish I could change the way things were
We're under the same sun, but live in different worlds
This country is so full of his beauty and wonder
The Dominican Republic, was quite the adventure
