Just Breathe

My eyes open
blink once, blink twice
the light is everywhere.
and I just breathe.

Children are everywhere,
the school bell rings.
Books, paper, learning,
And I just breathe.

He grabs my hand,
my first crush, my first love.
I feel he is the one,
and I just breathe.

The church shines as we wed.
We grow together.
Our children have grown.
And I just breathe.

I am alone.
My body hurts, my youth has faded.
I know what is coming,
and I just stop.
